Does CBCT imaging involve more radiation than regular dental X-rays?
CBCT uses a focused cone-shaped X-ray beam that reduces scatter radiation. While it does involve more radiation than a single two-dimensional X-ray, the dose remains relatively low. A CBCT is absolutely necessary when complex treatments like implants or when traditional X-rays can’t provide enough information whereas a CBCT is absolutely necessary.
